MEET COACH MEGHAN

Hi! I’m Meghan and I am a certified personal trainer from the National Academy of Sports and Medicine (NASM) and the owner of Barrett Fitness LLC. I have over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry, but for the past 6 years, I have specialized in coaching pregnant and postpartum women.  I have certifications from highly recognized organizations such as Girls Gone Strong, Jessie Mundell, Burrell Education, and Sarah Duvall.

Fitness is my therapy and has remained one of the most constant things in my life.  I’m an introverted extrovert by nature! I love meeting and working with new people, and equally love Netflix and chillin’…… I call it balance.

I’m a mom of 2 and after becoming pregnant with my first child in 2016 and realizing there was a lack of information for women entering their birthing years on how to exercise properly and recover postpartum, I decided to educate myself.  I work to constantly expand my knowledge of women’s health and fitness so that I can confidently coach women on how to train during pregnancy, recover postpartum, and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

I work to constantly improve my own fitness so that I can continue to carry and keep up with my ever-growing and ever-more-active children.  I want to help you recover postpartum and set you up for active and healthy years of motherhood so that you can do the same.

This program is a culmination of my 10 years of experience and the passion Ellen and I feel for helping women through this transitional period of their lives.  Congratulations on investing in your own recovery and health.  You are worth it.

MEET COACH ELLEN

My name is Ellen Petosa.  I am a mom of one human child and one fur (dog) child.  I played college soccer and am a mechanical engineer.  I grew up listening to Britney Spears and reading Harry Potter.  I have a passion for helping moms navigate their physical and mental recovery during and after pregnancy.

I am a NASM certified personal trainer with two certifications in pre & postnatal fitness (Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism and The Girls Gone Strong Coaching Pre & Postnatal Certification). I’m also a CF-OL1 certified trainer.  I’ve been working in the industry for a year, but I have been passionate about fitness for a lifetime.

When I was 6 weeks pregnant, I hit a personal record of 135# clean and jerk during the CrossFit open.  I got my first pistol squats that day, too.  I was immensely proud that I “achieved so much” while I was pregnant (as if creating a human isn’t enough..)

That night and for the next few days I bled so badly that I had to get a sonogram and make sure everything was okay with the baby (which it was!!).  But everything was not okay with me, mentally.

After that, I went to the opposite end of the spectrum and didn’t work out for 6 weeks.  When I decided I wanted to begin exercising again, I was lost.  I realized then how woefully lacking information on exercise during pregnancy and the postpartum period really is.  “Do what you have always done” and “just listen to your body” are outdated and unhelpful sentiments.  The 6 week clearance from your doctor does not mean you’re cleared for exercise as you knew it before.

It was at this point in my pregnancy that I found Meghan.  She educated me, coached me, and set me on this path.  I want to teach women how to move safely so they can continue to do the things they love for the rest of their lives.
